Why Not A 77 Bee?

I saw someone had a listing for 218 Bee brass. I've often wondered why Ruger made the 77 Hornet instead of a 218 Bee. I think it would fit lengthwise and they might have been able to use the 357 bolt with only a little tweak. The Bee would have a couple hundred fps more than a Hornet. It would be a real step up from the 22 mag, but still well below the 223 and other of the hotter 22's.
Have any of you put one together.

IIRC, the .22 Hornet chambering in the 77/22 was introduced several years before Ruger brought the 77/22 out as the 77/357 and 77/44.

Ruger made the No.1 in 218 Bee a few years back, I really enjoy mine!

I have never seen ammo for .218 Bee. .22 Hornet can be bought at local Co-op.

The 218 Bee comes & go's right now Hornady is making the 218 Bee.
But it is not cheap!
I enjoy shooting it & like the 22 Hornet they are cheap to reload, I have reloaded my brass 11 times & have not had to trim a caseing. That being said I do not load hot loads.

The Hornet came in the 77/22 format bolt rifle with a rotary magazine. I presume the Bee is too fat for a practical rotary magazine.
