Got a great deal on this so pulled the trigger. I am overly impressed with all aspects of the Guide Gun. Feels and shoots great. First time out I shot 10 rounds with open sights to see how they printed. Dead on for me.

I added a 2-10x42 Tract scope and shot a few groups. I had factory loads with 200 and 225 grain SST's. The 225's averaged about 1.75 inches and the 200's about 1.25 inch average.

Recoil really surprised me. I was shooting this and my American 308 free handed at a steel gong and the 308 seemed to kick more. No doubt due to being lighter weight, but also the 338 muzzle brake really works well.

Thanks. I bought some of the Hornady 185 GMX factory loads to try when I get home in a few days. I will be ordering dies and bullets to start loading for it after I try the 185 GMX. Probably try 185 to 210 grain Barnes and 210 grain Nosler Partitions.

I have one in the 375 Ruger. Give you a few tips. First relieve the wood around tang area of action. If there is no gap you will develop a crack between Laminate layers in tang area. Free float and glass bed stock. Adjust trigger pull weight to your liking. Mine has a 2 pound trigger pull with no creep. Honed the bolt rails, bolt functions like butter. I am getting 1/2" 3-shot group at 100yds with my Nosler 300gr. Accubond load.

Thanks for the tips. I was thinking of the 375 but wasn't sure of the recoil, plus I don't have any use for one. Not that I have a use for the 338 either.

How did you hone the rails? Rubbing compound or??

The 375 Ruger with the muzzle break is pleasant to shoot, just a push rather then a sharp jam. 600 grit wet/dry sand paper and oil. You are just polishing material, not removing. Ruger's are casted and are rough.
