I just received an email from Chris Killoy, the Ruger President, that the Ruger No.1 is not discontinued and is planned to be in the production lineup for 2017.

Why the closeout prices if still in production? Don't get me wrong, very happy to hear this news. Will they finish all the 2016 offerings? 44 mag for instance?

Sounds like the no. 1 is just going to be done in periodic runs of specific calibers and configurations, not always in full production. So, in a way both sides are right.

I can live with that, maybe all non-cataloged editions?

Looking back, the original reportsabout the demise of the No 1 were second hand bhut ultimately sourced to contacts in the Ruger distribution business. Right?

If so, the question is still open whether this was deliberate, perhaps a trial balloon to gauge the reaction?

In any event, the official word from Ruger is essentially a no change policy from what has held sway over the past 4-5 years. It does NOT necessarily foreshadow any new corporate commitment.

What is Lipsey's response to the 'news'?

Why is it that everybody always wants a Number 1 in some obscure caliber that nobody else chambers? We always hear "if they made so and so I would buy it today"............why not by some in normal calibers?................jus sayin.......LOL!!!

Would like to see these myself next year, even though I'm a Whelen guy. Do like the 35.

Since it's the season of wishes (miracles?), my letter to Santa includes a plug for stainless/walnut 1V in 308 Win.
I might as well ask for a 308 in a 1S (26") blue/walnut while I'm at it.

Only a very small part of the Rifle shooting population own #1. They tend to be people that enjoy something a little different including cartridge selection.

Ruger #1 have been produced in the so called normal cartridges for years , there are numerous ones on the used market.

I recently sold the following in the following order all listed at the same time. All were VG to excellent in condition . First 3 were sold in less then a week.

1H -458 Win plain wood - 5
1S - 475 Linebaugh decent wood figure - 2
1S - 218 Bee vg wood figure - 1
1H - 405 Win vg wood figure - 3
1B - 7mm Rem exceptional wood - 7 sold after 3 months deeply discounted
1B -300 Win plain wood - 6
1H-375 H&H decent wood figure - 4

I currently own the following

Ruger 1S 275 Rigby
Ruger 1A 222
Ruger 1A 280
Ruger 1A 303
Ruger 1A 30-30
Ruger 1A 7.62X39
Ruger 1AH 2506
Ruger 1AK 6.5x55
Ruger 1B 225 Win
Ruger 1B 6mm
Ruger 1RSI 6.5x55
Ruger 1RSI 257 Rbts

I'm waiting for my stainless gray laminate RSI in .308 with cash in hand. This would be the perfect gun for Ruger's current manufacturing skill. No bluing problems no 2x4 quality wood problems just a handy all weather hunter.
