I'm a sucker for classic walnut and blued steel rifles. I'm thinking of buying a new M77 Hawkeye, but one thing I'm wondering about is the trigger. The RAR triggers, from what I have read, are really good. Can't say I've ever seen any rave reviews for a Hawkeye trigger. How do the triggers compare on them?

I bought a stainless Hawkeye earlier this year. The trigger pull measured 4 pounds out of the box. I spent about half an hour disassembling the rifle and polishing the internals. Now it measures 2.5#, just about perfect.

I much prefer a 2.5# Hawkeye trigger over anything the American can provide. The basic Hawkeye trigger design is very good. Sometimes they just need a little polishing. It's very easy to do.
