Just had a question for anyone out there. Ran across a ruger 77 RS tang safety in 280 and was wondering how rare they were and what would be a good purchasing price.

Thank you.

About 10% of total production of tang safeties were either RS or STs. They are out there but with 90-% fewer plus those still in guys hands they simply show up way less often.

An RS .280 in my opinion would be a super find!! Really, I seem to hear of more of the 77V Varmint version in .280, then an occassional 77R.
But sights on an M77 is a special treat because only a small percentage of M77's had sights.
The next thing is, some of the .280's are marked ".280 REM. or 7mm Remington Express" I believe is what they say, which is another special collector interest.
If you see that one again, be sure to let me know the sn ([email protected])
Looking at my notes, I have them noted only in the 74-62086 to 74-66247 range.

I have one, marked 280 REM or 7mm EXP REM, serial 74-913XX. I have had the rifle since 1981/1982. It is a tang safety without sights.
