Which reminds me, I need to post a question... headed to South Dakota in a month and need to know somethings....

And yes, I'm pretty sure if I threaten to kill you that is a crime... and regardless it is wrong.... but maybe that is just me ... for the simple reason when I say something I mean it...

Example... couple of years back at our family mountain house... one of the neighbors got off his meds.... friends came up and he got all in a tither about their dogs... which are really good dogs... and threatened to shoot them... we had always taken our dogs up there (also good dogs) and let them run loose... I told my wife if he shot one of our dogs for no reason he would not be coming off that mountain alive.... she decided we need to sell the mountain house....

Idle threats a mom makes when the child does something wrong and she does not nor maybe should not follow through. Is dumb and wrong, idle threats in a SD situation is even worse, what you say can and will be used against you. Like threatening to shoot someone when you have no legal justification might make those who hear you think your a nut or worse, maybe a criminal.

Thoughts on Self Defense
There are several points in this material where the differences
in state laws are talked about.

I'm sure the dummy in Florida would have shot the guy even if he knew what the law said about it.

While I bet you are correct, does that imply the rest of us should emulate him?
I'll bet no. Thus the reminder is worth the time.

Well no, of course not.

As a side note... I was looking at a National Geographic map of the Bad Lands Park in South Dakota and some of the information on the map says firearms must be unloaded... and locked away secure in the park... I went to the National Park Service web site and they say something totally different....

I hate to say it in public, but who of us would want to travel through the Bad Lands of South Dakota unarmed?

Far as I know, national parks now mirror whatever state law says. Some facilities within a park remain no guns allowed though.
