Naphtali, that is why I always carry mild but accurate cartridges. Shot placememt is king, penetration is queen!

Jeepnik, just my opinion: Stick with that 1911.... at least until the Glock design is over a hundred years old....

My plan exactly. I know the .45 acp works, I'm still here.

Very good friend who is a retired Marine D.I. loves the 1911... that is all he shoots when we go out to Front Sight.... only issue is he has to be on top of when he needs a magazine change.... Two summers ago I talked him into going with me to the Sig Academy and one of the courses we took was shooting a pistol at distance.... we went out to 120 yards and I could hardly hit the target (upper body steel silhouette) with my P226 in 9mm but he was tagging that damn thing with the 1911 he borrowed from the academy for the class.

Used to be a range down in Orange County. I regularly made money shooting a fix sighted 1911A1 at a 100 yd gong. There was always someone who thought I couldn't do it. The bet was simply, I pay them a dollar for every miss, they pay five fore every hit. On a good day I could hit 7 out of 7. About that time they'd call a stop to it. The secret is knowing where to hold. I had a rock above the gong I'd hold on and clang!

Jeepnik, not attempting to words in your mouth, but maybe you will agree.
When talking about guns used for defense. We may be using a caliber or style that others say is not the best. When you have used/depended upon that gun over years. Became so familiar with it, you can take it apart in the dark, you know every part and it's name. You never need to look at the position of the safety or other controls because you know them by feel. You know these by years of handling and shooting, you operate and shoot the gun without needing to think, it becomes muscle memory and you like it. WHY change. Although my gun of choice is different than yours the results when used will be the same. Mine will get the job done in my hands, yours in your hands.

There was a fair sized rock on the berm above the gong. I hold the sights on that and that gave me the right hold over to hit the gong. If they had ever moved that rock I'd have been lost.

I ordered a flat trigger off Sig's website, installed it in my 365 yesterday.

It is neat how the fire control group comes out of the grip module by removing one pin.

Now to get to the range.

This may sound odd, but I'm actually thinking I may be better served with a six shot .38 revolver as my "big" carry gun instead of the usual Glock 26. Reason being, I am not consistently accurate with the Glock. I think it is mostly the trigger, my arthritic fingers have trouble with it even with a - connector and mirror finish on all parts.
