Just got my Silver Dollar Pancake with inside the waistband straps for CCing my SP101... Lots of people have stated this is THE holster, but I am having a tough time trying to figure out how to carry with this without imprinting. Obviously, I can do the outfit that screams I am packing...button-up shirt unbuttoned over my t-shirt. Was really hoping to be able to wear this with just a t-shirt...any suggestions.

Thanks,

Jim

As "hide-out" snubbies go, the 101 is a bulky gun. Add the thickness of a holster and it gets more so.
Conceal one under a "regular" t-shirt?...probably not.
Maybe try a looser/heavier t-shirt. If that don't help, you may have to get used to the "over-shirt with tail out" routine.

Yeah, I don't wear T-shirts tight anymore. Also look for the heavier cotton ones. Don't wear the holster at 3,6,9 o'clock either. stevemb

Lots of people dress like that, not all of them carry. As stated the SP101 is not a hideout gun. Infact my SP101 is the hardest of my carry guns to conceal.

I have a holster made by Shooting Systems, that works better than most. It is just a plain black nylon holster with one clip. The only reason I have it, is because it was in the free box at my LGS. It is convertible from left to right hand. It makes the gun ride really low, so that only the grip is above my waist band. It also works with my PPS and j-frame.

Sometimes I wear a tank top under my T-shirt, so it looks like I am only wearing an untucked t-shirt. Ed

It is doable..for revolvers I carry in pancakes, high and tight, 3:30-4:00 with oversize[loose fitting] non-white
t-shirt or untucked but buttoned colored short sleeve shirt[FL resident-shorts, t-shirts.untucked shirts are common dress. A REAL gun belt is a must.

Here are a couple of Simply Rugged holsters and a Galco;

Best.

I have never found the Simply Rugged to be the best for concealment.
I use them for bigger single action revolvers, but not concealment.

I can EASILY hide an SP101 in a Remora under just an untucked tee shirt (not overly baggy or loose)
I can EASILY hide an SP101 in a TT Gunleather "Mike's Special" IWB
or a Galco OWB or a AKJ Concealco IWB or a Crossbreed Qwikclip IWB

The SP101 is a SUPER concealable revolver, and for those who said it is not a hideout gun.....what the heck do you carry?
Good belt, good holster, no problem. I am only 5'9" and 160 lbs......

My S&W J-frame airweight is easier to carry, fits in an ankle holster if I need it to, or in a pocket holster. That is a hideout gun.

The SP101 carrys like a full size gun, my Sig p250 is as easy to carry as the SP101 and it has 10 rounds of .45acp. My Walther PPS has 9 rounds of 9mm it is easier to carry than the SP101.

Not knocking it, I love my SP101. It is a great gun, just relaying my experiences.

If you can hide your 101 under a T-shirt, great....but most of us will likely need to do a bit more dressing to cover one in an OWB holster.

Just to answer your question;
These days I carry a full-sized BHP. Before that, it was a 1911A1....both IWB with a pronounced "FBI tilt"...no holster. That has worked real well for me for a number of years....but...both are slimmer in cross-section than a 101.
Good belt?...yes indeed.
Good holster?...I've about tried 'em all. "No holster" works the best for me to "hide" the arms I prefer to carry.
I am 6'2" and 210 lbs.....and to be fair, almost never go about in just a T-shirt.

Bear in mind though, that we are talking about two different types of guns here.
Semi-autos are flat in cross-section and tend to "stay put" IWB. Revolvers are thicker in the middle due to the cylinder, so the problem there is "where to position the cylinder?"...if ya leave it above the belt, the gun shifts around, and under some circumstances, a short-barreled model might even fall out; if ya place it bellow the belt, the dern gun just might end-up slipping down inside your pants-leg.....I've had that happen.....so yeah, your gonna need a holster to carry one of those...which adds to it's cross-section...which is already greater than the cross-section of a semi-auto of equal (or greater) power....so what I'm still saying is the same thing I said before; namely, the SP-101 aint a hide out gun.....leastways, not in the sense as a J-frame Smith or a little .380 pocket-rocket.....both of which are perty-easy for anyone to hide, even in a holster.

Not arguing, just sayin' that we aint all the same.

No truer words have ever been typed. :D .

You make alot of good points about holster selection. Also about the location of the cylinder in relation to the belt.

The only thing that works for me is to have the cylinder below my belt. This makes the gun ride very low, and just the grip sticks out. I wish the holster makers would include in their description the cylinder height location (in relation to the belt). Lots of times it is just a stock photo, of a different gun.

Semi automatics are very different to conceal than revolvers, that is for certain. Ed

*Just a Tee shirt* is the hardest to do. I have seen some amazing things ( Glock 17 carried OWB, two mags , and handcuffs under just a tee shirt) , but it is highly dependent on one's exacrt body shape. And most people can't do it.

While the SP101 is very compact for what it is , in the absolute sense it is pushing sz Medium. Not that is a bad thing , just saying.

For *most* people , you will need to wear more than a Tee shirt. The good thing is that you can easily wear more than a Tee shirt and be quite comfortable and blend in to any situation. Even in tropics or at the beach a square tail sport shirt is commonly wore by people who aren't packing.

Simply Rugged holsters are well made and high quality. BUT Rob's signature design , the Sourdough Pancake does have quite a bit of excess leather extending past the muzzle of the gun. And for myself , I prefer the more steeply canted angle of the origional Roy Baker Pancake. Simply Rugged also makes the "Tribute" , which is porported to be an exact duplicate of Rob's personal Roy Baker Pancake he wore before he brgan making holster. I've been wanting to try one , but haven't yet.

Alas genuine Roy Baker holsters are now becoming worn out or in collections. The El Paso #77 "Tortilla" has the same ride ht and angle, albeit stiffer leather. And the historically correct exposed trigger gaurd is no longer policically correct in some uses. To preserve my Bakers , in recent years I've been using the DeSantis flavor , which also happens to have covered trigger gaurd, and it serves well with revolvers larger than SP101s .

Any pictures of SP101 being worn concealed?
