I am thinking about a heavy taper barrel to replace the stock taper barrel on a 10/22 carbine. Kidd offers a 20" heavy taper barrel, but that is heavier and longer than I would like.

Both Feddersen and Green Mountain offer 17", non-fluted, heavy taper barrels. Ideally, I would like a barrel that shoots with good accuracy out to 50 yards with mid-priced ammo such as CCI Standard Velocity, Aguila Super Extra High Velocity, or Aguila Super Extra Standard Velocity.

Does anyone have any personal experience with either of these two barrels?

I've had several GM barrels but were the .920 bull barrels both shot great.
If I were to buy another I would probably get the heavy taper.

I had a Green Mountain 16" 17HM2 barrel that I really liked. A bit thicker than the factory 10-22 barrel but not as thick and heavy as the .920 contour barrels.
I just don't care for the muzzle heavy .920 barrels' feel and that weight has literally nothing to offer regarding increased accuracy.
