I've got 4-5 old take-off 10/22 stocks of various makes/intents. .... I grew distracted with a marvelous fly-weight Hogue bench rest spec custom. And I really like my TD original stock too much, so it seems.

Also have an after market wood "M1 carbine .30 cal" version for a replica build never got around to doing....yet. With the Tac-1 sights it would be ideal for the task. I was going to use that one as a replica steel-challenge mil.WW2 clone.

So many guns.....so little time!!!!

I suppose the take down 10/22 is neat and easy to transport and it does come with that cool back pack... but for me a 10/22 with 16" barrel and either Choate or Butler Creek folding stock seems a lot more practical.

I haven't been impressed with the accuracy of my SS takedown. I don't think it's me because I can shoot my 3 other 10-22's and a Browning takedown fairly consistently. The Ruger TD shoots all around the bullseye in about a 6-7 inch circle...YMMV.

Well, here ya go. I was bored today so I took a ride over to my local Dicks Sporting goods store to look for a "50th Anniversary" take down with the stainless barrel and black synthetic furniture. Lo and behold, they had one and it was on sale. A quick NICS check and I was on my way.
Came home and did the swap. Took 10 minutes.

I can't believe I posted this thread nearly 6 years ago !! Anyway, had a free weekend up in the mountains and took this 10/22 takedown along with me and I was nailing everything with the iron sights out to 50 yards. What a fun little rifle. I won't ever mount a scope on it, it's not needed !

Same here. The takedown has a place and purpose but neither falls in my areas of need. I used to carry my old "farm 10-22" decked out in a folding Choate(?) stock on my ATV. Now that I use a SxS, a BigSky roof rack holds a solid stocked 10-22 easily so no need for the folder.

Kinda nice for camping the case gives it some protection.
Bungie it to your pac frame and your good to go. Linda and
I still do some camping in the White Mtns of Nh. White Face Mtn area
in Sandwich. When we were young we'd be there almost every weekend
during camping season. Now just a couple times a year is enough!
The campsite is about a 50 min hike funny each time we go it seems longer. :) ps
