Is a 820- serial number used to designate a 10/22 receiver/trigger group/magazine? I got one on line, never used, came with the complete receiver, complete trigger group, magazine, v block, take down screw, scope base and screws, lock and locking device, manual w/all paperwork, even the Ruger chamber flag. Everything except stock and barrel (which I have). It didn't come with any kind of Ruger factory box. From the markings on the bag it was in it looks like it might have been originally sold by Cheaper Than Dirt.

I answered my own question about 2 hours after I posted it. I was rereading my RENE newsletter (May 2012) and I saw where Ruger had started a new prefix for the 10/22's. It is 820. So I figure that it was bought and taken apart for the pieces (stock, barrel, receiver/trigger group).

I had a stock from an old 10/22 that I tricked out (birch but with METAL barrel band and butt plate) and a new barrel from a 10/22 that I modified for a customer (Tactical Solutions threaded barrel, Butler Creek stock, Harris bipod, 3-9x scope, extended mag release, oversized bolt handle; he's going to suppress it for dispatching varmits around his house).

Put the old stock, new barrel and receiver together last night and I'm back to having a plain jane, iron sights plinker 10/22 (which, in my opinion, everyone should have).
