While at the LGS two weeks ago I eyeballed a beautiful MKIII w/ slab barrel (5.5" target/competition) w/ fiber optic sights, smooth cocobolo grips and gold colored trigger (model 10122). The week before, I bought a LC9 from the same LGS and I just couldn't resist the MKIII.
Long story short (being an eng and physicist), I took the gun apart for a good cleaning after I had ran about 100 rds of Winchester 555s (had a few misfires/fail to feed correctly). Needless to say, it was a royal PITA getting apart and back together. I finally got it together; however, in my carelessness, I broke the "v" rear sight on one side (broke in half). Needless to say, I was really angry at myself knowing that these MKs are a Rosie O’Donnell to put back together at least the first time.
I called Ruger, told them what happened and w/o hesitation the rep stated, "no problem, we'll be sending a sight free of charge." I was fully expecting to pay for the part due to my ignorance and surely wasn't expecting Ruger to pick up the tab.
All I can say is, at least to me, what a great company along w/ great CS. I've got 5 Ruger handguns (two SR9c-wifey carries one of them, P95, LC9 and the MKIII).
BTW, I understand that the MKIII I bought is a limited edition of 1500 pieces. I buy my guns to shoot, but am curious if this gun will be a collector gun some day.
My other guns are a Mossberg 500 w/ 3 barrels for home defense and a S&W M&P AR15 OR w/ scope. Awesome gun in my opinion.
Now, where to fine an SR1911 dammit!
