I took my 14 year old son out to the range today.

We were shooting my 10/22 @ 50 yards (off the bench) and after a 5 shot group he asked me to "take a look". I checked it and he'd shot a 3/4" group with blazer ammo. I had him shoot another group and again, right @ 3/4" (maybe a touch smaller).

He asked me to shoot for a group (and against my better judgement I did). I shot a couple of groups and the smallest one was right @ an inch.

It had finally happened.....he had out shot me....twice.....and while he didn't say much, I could tell by the look on his face that he was feeling pretty good about it.

And I was too......

Sounds like a very exciting time for both of you. Congratulations! I remeber having these kinds of times with my Father and those memories last forever with Father and Son.

Nice skills! My 8 year old daughter is still learning the ropes of a Daisy 102, but I'm anxious to get her into a 10/22 at some point. Actually I want one and that helps justify it!

It's interesting how accurate the cheap Blazer ammo is. I've run nothing else but this in my SR22 pistol and it performs superbly with great accuracy.

My dad told me that it was his job to make sure I could outshoot him someday. Unfortunately for me, Dad was a pretty darned good shot and it never happened! :) What really got my goat was that he was left-eye dominant & shot right handed. Weird... But that old man could shoot.. man oh man.

Congratulations on your son's proficiency! Now YOU have some work to do don't ya!? ;)

Thanks for the positive comments!

It's been a long time since I've enjoyed a day @ the range quite this much.

And while I can't do much about him having younger eyes than mine, I can still manage to outshoot him with my Mark lll....@ least for now.

Got a 13yr old grandson that can shoot right with me with the M-1 and M-1 carbine. He outshoots me most of the time with smaller calibers.
