Had Tim @ Hangingtreearmory.com do a little barrel work for me. Chopped it back to 16", threaded, and set the front sight boss back. Also hit it with a bead blaster.

I also installed some 77/22 sights, as they are a bit taller. Don't know why Ruger makes the 10/22 sights so low.

Threw in enough VQ trigger parts to make it extra crisply and added some UM sling swivels. I used a wood screw rear and machine screw front. I've never liked the barrel band swivels, since you can't install a bipod if you need to.

Now it just needs pictures and a range report with the suppressor on the end.

Where about MI are you?

My stamp should be back any time now. NFA cashed my check for a SilencerCo Sparrow back in December.

I'm in Jackson.

Very nice and thank you very much for the report on the swivel studs. I assume you had no problems getting them into the stock(s)? Just normal pre-drill and tighten?

BTW that scope base doesn't "look" factory with the black finish. What scope are you using? Are you doing the "bag fit" compact scope thing or the "full size scope but gotta take it off to get it to fit in the bag" thing?

I've thought about bead blasting the barrel to make it match the receiver finish also, and yours looks great.

BTW to anyone reading this as of June 2 who is lusting after a 10/22 TD and cannot find one, I have a lead on one in MA from a reputable FFL/Sporting goods shop. Private message me if you'd like - first come, first get the tip. NO AFFILIATION [other than a heartfelt recommendation] but I do see on their website that they've got one in stock.

Yup, pre-drilled 11/64". Wood screw stud went in the stock nice and tight. Figured if it ever loosened up I'd just goop some J-B Weld on it.

Scope base in the pic is a UTG. It wears a Weaver now, and I have a 2X Barska compact scope on it. It has a good eye relief and clear field of view. Perfect for red squirrels at 50yds.

Hopefully I'll get some more time to play with this in the coming week. I have a quick zero on it and got some phenomenal groups, but I want to put a higher X scope on it and run through my cache of ammo to see what it likes.

Thanks again, I'm still fence sitting about the scope. One nice thing I'm finding out about the 10/22 in general is that there's just a lot of affection for these rifles. I look forward to owning mine for a long time and improving it. Lots of fun and a good base to start with.

I fully confess wanting it to be a big seller because I want an aftermarket stock for it; in the meantime a project I'm working on is a pad for the butt stock so I can adjust the length of pull. It would be great if someone made that as an accessory and I'll do it myself if nobody comes out with them. It's not the recoil of the gun, it's just that I'd be more comfortable with 1/2" more length of pull. I'm not an NBA star but I still find it a little short.

It would be really cool if Pachmayr or Ruger or someone else made a set of pads for this gun like these.
