Just went to Shopruger.com and discovered that all their $2 parts, like screws and springs, are now $4. Most other parts looked unchanged although the number of parts available seems to continue to decrease.

Well, you can always make your OWN parts. It's like complaining about gas prices, if you don't like the cost, don't buy any.

A whole $2.00? Like I say when ppl complain about a $12 increase on something at Disney, if that tiny amount is such a big deal, you probably shouldn't even be thinking big expense in the first place and put that $ into more important things.

This has my suspicions running hot -- I'm beginning to think that maybe Ruger has a profit motive...

Ruger is in the business of selling new complete guns. Parts are a pain (inventory, stocking, storage, employees to fill orders, shipping, time lost on phone with "I need the doohickie that attaches to the thingamabob" etc). They would rather you buy screws and springs elsewhere.

Really? Then why do they sell pepper spray, hats, shirts, jackets, decals and other stuff?

Excellent point! I almost spit coffee all over my keyboard! As I'm sure you already know, most all, if not ALL, of the small parts and springs are not made by Ruger. Like most businesses, they stick to what they make best and farm out some work to companies that make small parts and springs in huge quantities. If the suppliers raise their prices due to costs involved with producing those parts, what should Ruger do?

When folks complain about increasing prices and then vent on an open forum about the increase, what do they expect they're gonna get for an answer? Sorry bud, I can't help you.

Funny thing, a few years back, I would send folks a screw or spring that they lost during assembly of a Ruger Mark pistol, or a plug screw when they were one short. Then I got a note from a person asking about a #6-40 plug screw. I asked how many he needed, he told me, "Oh just send me a hand full". Well, #6-40 plug screws are pretty dang small, and I don't know the exact count that will fit in one's hand, but when I told him what they "cost per", he said, "He thought that I sent those out for free." Well, not any more Sparky.

You can go to McMaster-Carr and buy a bag of any type or size of tiny screws, and even with shipping, the unit cost is pretty darn small. Great deal if you're in business and will have a need for that many. Sending one or two to someone for free, even though it's probably good for business in the long run, is more than unit cost. In addition to postage, you must consider what your time is worth - especially if you're really busy at the time.

Somebody at Ruger has to read the request, find and pack the parts, make out a packing slip, correct the inventory, and get the package to shipping. What's that worth?

There's usually more than adequate compensation to the company when "shipping and handling" charges are included, but sometimes, it's still a net loss. Maybe that's the case for raising the minimum price for small, inexpensive parts.

I have no horse in this race but just wanted to say, I've had nothing but good luck with Ruger.

I called Ruger 2 times in 2018 and wanted to order screws for a couple of Ruger single actions I have expecting to pay whatever. They told me both times, "no charge" and sent them right out.

Doesn't get better than that!

I deal with McMaster-Carr quite a bit, and I've never seen any #6-40 or #6-48 screws listed anywhere. Can you provide a catalog page where they offer the above? I'd like to order from them in quantity.

I often comment when I'm busy playing the penny slots at one of the local casinos - "You know what? I'm beginning to suspect that this all an elaborate scheme to take my money"
