I got my Red Eagle News Exchange References last week and just got around to reading it. There is hours of reading in there. My question is was there a Super Single Six Convertible made? I have an old model serial number 520xxx with an extra cylinder. I see in the reference the convertibles, and the Supers, but Im unsure if they offered a combination of the two.

Also, I see where ".inc" on the barrel changes the value. Can someone explain that to me? Thanks.

All Old Model Super Single-Sixes were convertibles, except for a few odd ball ones. I think maybe a few of the chrome or nickel plated guns didn't have an extra cylinder. Serial number 500221 was a blued Second Super with a .22 LR cylinder only and a few more seconds shipped in 1967 were .22 l.r. only and they are very rare. There were at least 15, .22 Mag only Supers shipped and only one found, serial number 555430.

Although the above guns were made they are very rare and just about all Supers were convertibles. The Cat. number SC stands for Super Single-Six-Convertible.

All information comes from RENE.

As for the Inc. on the barrel??? It's a collector thing. When Ruger started making guns in 1949 they stamped the barrels Sturm Ruger and Co. This carried on till around 1963-1964. Then they started stamping Sturm Ruger and Co. Inc. on the barrels. As the Super Single Sixes came about in this range, some of them were stamped with "Co." only. They are somewhat rare and a small premium is involved. As I said it's a collector thing.

Ruger is known to have "unretired" that old non-INC. rollmark on a couple of occasions. Besides the earliest Super Single-Sixes without INC. that are known up to 504788 there are also two other blocks of guns that are known without INC in the address... 521514 to 521806 and 538465 to 541016.
