I just bought a 7.5" Ruger OM .45 Blackhawk in an online auction from a seller I have bought from for years. It was advertised as being in .45 Colt, but when I opened the box today, I discovered it has a factory numbered .45 ACP cylinder in it. I paid a fair market price for the gun as it was advertised.
It is a nice, shooter grade gun, which is what I wanted, but I wanted one in .45 Colt. I have called them, explained the situation, and asked if there is any chance they can look around and/or call the consignor (if there is one) and find the .45 Colt cylinder. They are doing so. I know it is a long shot, but if they find the .45 Colt cylinder, I told them I would happily pay extra to get it, as a factory convertible was my preference. However, I don't really want a 7.5" .45 ACP Blackhawk if they can't find the cylinder. If it was a 4 5/8" gun, I'd be more likely to keep a .45 ACP only gun.
So, assuming they do not find the cylinder, what would you do? Return the gun? Or, keep it and hunt for a cylinder to make it the shooter you want? Having dealt with them for years, I doubt a partial refund is on the table, so let's not consider that an option.
Thank you for your thoughts! It will help me make up my mind.
