If I read RENE correctly, they value the gun at $495 and the box at $125. Still way under what this gun sold for.

Who knows ..... maybe it filled a hole in someone's collection, or because its a well respected seller with super nice pictures or a penny start auction with no reserve ..... ???

That one's really weird. If it is in fact a Buckeye Sports Special it should also have a .32 H&R magnum cylinder, and lists at $815 in "collector condition" on the RENE Price Guide including the box and papers.

That's why you do your research thoroughly, then set the max price you will pay and if it goes higher it might hurt but let it go. You'll get over it - and probably find something better at a cheaper price.

The Buckeyes weren't Bisleys, were they?

 I am never shocked anymore at "bidding " on firearms . I attended a firearms auction last sat. , Unreal prices  . I was after a marlin 1894c , sold for 1050. :? But I saw several Remington 760s sell for over 3 thousand dollars each. I just don't get it  Seller had to be happy !!

That one has a Bisley GF, hammer and trigger fitted. I just sold one that original and correct in minty condition with both cylinders, inner and outer box and papers for $930.00 and was happy.

No, but they didn't make any Bisleys in .32 caliber to my knowledge. As mentioned above, that gun has had the Bisley parts retrofitted to what was almost certainly a Buckeye. Interesting "conversion", actually.

I am prepared to be proven wrong, of course.

And the buyer(s) evidently was happy too!! So nothing wrong with the transactions. Win-win situation.
Oh yea I agree ,but these are not rare guns. I think some folks view auctions as a competition . Or just have too much money

Funny I just bought a very similar gun about 15 miles form this seller. Mine had both cyl. Maybe came out of same collection. As the shop has about 200 guns on consignment. Many have had bisley grip frames added. There are also a bunch of 32h&r models. I actually bought 3 bisley models. My buckeye was half price of this one with the extra cylinder

I sometimes will entertain myself by looking at the 'bid history' on GB; especially when the price appears to have gone a bit high. I look forward to finding the typical 'bid war', and I check to see how high the "winner" was forced beyond what's reasonable. Auctions are fun......... from afar :)))
IMHO of course,
