I have a brand new, unfired SP101 that I am sending back to get some grind marks polished. I also measured the endshake as .0055". Should I ask them to look at this while the gun is on its pilgrimage?

Thanks

I'm not a big fan of making changes to a gun without shooting it first. My .22lr SP101 has a canted barrel and every measurement is at the end of specs or slightly out of spec. That gun is an absolute tack driver and after several thousand rounds the trigger is smooth as silk.

It's pretty tight at the shortest distance—.0015" but is .007" at the widest measurement. I'm a little concerned about not having shot it first also. Just trying to avoid two trips back to factory. I had read that anything over .005 needed to be addressed.

In another forum a gunsmith (Iowegan) mentioned Rugers can go as high as 0.010" albeit gunsmiths would like it more like 0.005" you cited. The lower figures are cited for S&W as evidently Ruger does not make public the tolerance range.

That link was very informative. That's for posting. I'm not as concerned about .0055 as I was. But I will ask Ruger to look at it.
