I have 2 blued new model Blackhawks, both in .357, both with 4 5/8" barrel. One is from 1976, the other is current production, NIB. I noticed that the 1976 model felt a bit lighter. In checking the ejector shrouds, the current newer model is highly magnetic (as much as the barrel), and the 76 model does not react to the magnet whatsoever. I thought regular Blackhawk models in .357 were supposed to have ally, or aluminum ejector shrouds??

The change was in 2009. Actually it was a change back to steel which ended in 1963.

There are exceptions as always of course. Certain models and distributor exclusive special models were 'blessed' with steel ERHs and even grip frames over the intervening years, for example: .32 Mag Vaqueritos, original Vaqueros w/steel grip frames from the get go and later ERHs before being replaced with the New Vaqueros in 2005 which have both, the Buckeye convertible BHs have both, etc.
