When did Ruger start putting the red front sight on the Security Six? I ask as I just got a 154 4" SS Six with the plain front sight.

Chief,,, if RoninPa doesn't come along soon & answer that,, I'll look it up for you.
I believe the red insert started around s/n 157-3xxxx although there were some earlier serial numbered commemoratives (156-xxxxx) that had dovetailed red inserts in the front sight. I also believe that only the Security Six had the red inserts, I don't recall seeing red inserts on the Service and Speed Sixes (but I could be wrong).
