Ruger did well in making this 3" .44 Special! I'd own one in a NY minute if I didn't already have a no dash S&W 696, one of my favorite handguns. The weakness in the 696 is the extremely thin forcing cone. I doubt the Ruger has that issue :)

I bought a Taurus 431 fifteen years ago, and it has been a fun thing ever since. It's my nightstand gun with Silvertips. If I didn't have it, I'd be interested in the Ruger.

The GP-100 .44 Specials 3" stainless models are still listed in the Ruger 2019 catalog, so shooters who want one can buy one new. I have never seen any new or used models for sale in the area gun shops and just a few new or used in our own classifieds. It might be considered by a few to be just one of Ruger's oddball revolvers but to me it is a fun to handy trail and home defense double action revolver. And one that is fun to shoot too.
