I just picked up a nice Security Six from a buddy of mine. I like finding period correct boxes for my guns, I know I'm weird like that. It was built in 1979 according to the prefix 154 serial number. What is the appropriate color Red or Yellow?
Thanks

I'm leaning toward RED but am not sure.

Bet if you put a WTB ad in Classified you'll get what you need.

According to Reference of Ruger Firearms:

The red/black box was used up to about s/n 154-93044 and the yellow/black started about 154-86795, (so there was some overlap). The change started in March 1979.

If your s/n is earlier than 154-86795 you can pretty much say that it should be red/black.
