I just ran across this picture of a .44 special conversion I had done in the 1970`s. I no longer have it but do have a 5 1/2" Lipsey special flat top in .44 special.

I was a 44 special freak. Read too much elmer and skeeter. I somehow accumulated seven .44 specials. A 1950 target, a s&w triplelock that was sent back to the factory and target sights installed in 1949, a 7 1/2" colt that was converted many years ago, a 4 3/4" colt, a old s&w heavy duty converted to .44 special from 38/44, a s&w 4" model 24-3 and the 5 1/2" ruger lipsey special not pictured.

Bravo!

I used to shoot a lot of 44 Special but thru my several 44 Mags. When I realized I didn't have a single gun stamped 44 Spl, I decided I had to fix that.

So now I only have 2 .44 Mags, a Super BH and an original large frame Vaquero.

But also have 18 .44 Spls:

Like many of you, I too read a lot of Skeeter and Elmer and for years wanted a .44 Special. Seemed other things always took preference, like raising 2 boys, so it wasn't until a few years ago when the accumulation of parts started. Finally they were delivered to John Gallagher (thanks to the influence of 6GUNSONLY) with a probable wait time of one year and that wait time found me gathering more parts. Those parts were delivered when I picked up the 1st .44 Special and now we are awaiting the completion of another .44 Special plus a .45 Birdshead Sheriff. All three on an Old Model .357 frame. Perhaps by the time the 2 are delivered I will have mastered the art of posting pictures and they will all three be presented on THE Rugerforum! They will join my one-and-only New Model Flattop .44 Special.
