I'm doing some research on GP100's and I need to find out some info or where it might be on line.

With the new GP100's that have come out - specifically the .44 spl, the .327, the .22, and the 7 shot model, what do the box end labels say?

example - KGPF-830 tells me that it is a stainless steel GP100 with fixed sights, .38 spl caliber, 3 inch barrel with a half lug.

I can maybe guess how the .44 and .22 will be marked, (KGPF-431 or KGP-250) but not sure about the .327 or the 7 rnd model and with Ruger, you never know and I want to make sure. The 2018 catalog only has the Ruger Catalog Model numbers (1705, 1757, etc.)

I might try calling Ruger on Monday to see what they say or what they may be able to send to me.

Thanks.

It does. I have a follow up question for you. Is your .327 a 5" barrel with a full underlug (goes to the end of the barrel)? and what is the length of your .22?

Thanks

That helps, the .22 sort of stays with their numbering scheme but the .327 doesn't as it ends with a 1. Being a half lug barrel I would have thought it would have been a "0" (zero) as since they started making them the last number always designated half (0) or full (1) lug.

What i'm doing is making up a chart to show how to interpret the lettering on the end of the box it came in. That was going to go along with a possible GP100 display that I may show at the next ROCS show (at the Ohio Gun Collectors Association meeting in July 2019).

But I still have time to do more research. It might end up that I'll have to limit the chart to the models prior to the .327, .44 , and the .22. I'll see what happens when I call Ruger.

For those of you who have replied, thanks for the help.

A Ruger dealer rep is going to be in contact with me in the next few days so I'll see what he/she can help me with. The girl at CS said they only deal with the model number (1702, 1750, etc.) Even she didn't know what I meant when I said KGP-131. I told her model 01708, she punched that up on the computer she told me it is a stainless GP100, .357 Mag, adjustable sights, 3" barrel (with full underlug).

So the search continues for info and of course I forgot about the 10mm.

I have two data points for your collection:

KGP-4431-5 (01761): 3" stainless .44S, adjustable sights, full lug

KGP-1040-MCA (01755): 4.2: stainless .40/10MM MC, adjustable sights, half lug

I would posit for the recent models, the code is something like (K)GP(F)-(caliber)(barrel length)(underlug)-(capacity), but that's just based on what I see here and have seen, and obviously the MC models don't seem to be marked that way. On the other hand, looking on GB, I see a 4" 7 shot blue .357 as GP-121-7-HC, and several very new models with no model number designation on the box end at all (e.g., https://www.gunbroker.com/item/794556344)

Thanks for the info but I also need the catalog number. It should be on the end of the box and look something like KGP-xxxx
