I am considering ordering one of the Lipsey's 0873 SBH's because Ruger refuses to build a stainless Bisley in 45 colt with a 4 5/8 barrel. Dumb question: am I going to be able to shoot 45 colt through it without modification? Do I need a 45 colt cylinder?

You can shoot 45 Colts in a 454. Just like the 38/357's you will get a different burn ring inside the chambers.
Now, Freedom Arms recommends a separate cylinder for their SA's.

Well if Ruger made the cylinder throats oversize .455 like they did in my Alaskan .454/45 Colt you might have leading issues with .452 sized lead bullets.
I have read where they did this to reduce cylinder pressure with .454 rounds.
My Alaskan only shoots FMJ or plated bullets clean.
Any Colt loads even at a modest 900 FPS lead up the bore.

Would love to have a .45 Colt sized cylinder!

I had an Alaskan 454. I traded it off since I had two that shot 45 Colt. I kept the Redhawk because it also shot 45 ACP. The Alaskan shooting 45 Colt is like shooting the GP100 with soft reloads. Very comfortable and soft shooting. I have some nice 300 grain cast bullets that I shot in it. I still have the box of 454 that has 4 rounds shot out of it. Not a comfortable load at all. The throats were all the same at 454 and the barrel slugged out at 452. I shot some cast 454 bullets out of it but mostly 453. I replaced the trigger spring in it with the Wolff 8 lb. It was left over from my GP100 spring job. The before pull was 4 lb 11 oz. The after spring job was 3 lb 4 oz. The trigger in the GP and SRH are much better than the Redhawk. But I wanted to keep the Redhawk because it is smaller and shoots the 45 ACP. It would be a perfect revolver if it had the same trigger system as the GP and SRH. I haven't messed with the trigger on the Redhawk and it's pull is 6 lb.
