I am so glad i purchased this service six. What a super nice shooter. On the way back from the range I began to think I should pick up a 6 inch security six but then I realed in the crazy.

It makes a great companion to my gp100 6 inch.

Update. Found out about the gp-160
You known it. I picked one up. Looks and shoots super nice . I think the half lug has a better feel in hand than the gp100. It gives the revolver a lighter feel.

I've had a blue GP just like your 6" half-lug for about 25 years now. Bought it used in NYS and used it for a "deer rifle" from tree stands in the deep woods for the last ten years I lived there. Agree about the finer balance compared to the "full lug" guns--the full lug saves Ruger some machining time and appeals to shooters who only shoot their Jeep on the range (because of the recoil reduction), IMO.

Wish Ruger would come out with a 6" Match Champion. THAT would be a supreme hunting handgun for those of us who trust the .357 for deer and varmints. A 7 1/2" inch "Hunter" version would have some appeal, too.
