I want a 357 Bisley to make into a .357/44 Bain and Davis.

I never sought one out for the conversion because once I do, after a bit it will be "Now what?"
But if one ever falls in my lap, I'll be sure to snap it up. ;)
From what I understood, .357/44 Bain and Davis had problem locking cylinder with hot loads. Some say that meticulous cleaning and removing any trace of lubricant in chambers could considerably reduce this problem, but not completely.

Apparently, 357/41 is better choice. GARY REEDER made 356, but too short neck for my taste http://www.reedercustomguns.com/information/gnr_cartridges.htm .

Did you ever consider Ruger .357 Maximum? They are available https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/716005861/used+ruger+.357+maximum+new+model+blackhawk , https://www.gunbroker.com/item/774809243 , and with any sane load, it will give you all you want from 357 caliber. Just stay away from light bullets and double base powders. If you want to buy one, check forcing cone and aft face of the barrel for erosion. You might want to reset barrel and clean erosion.

My LGS had a nice Maximum about 6 months ago for $599. I didn't handle it but it looked in good shape. Went back 2 weeks later and it was gone. You snooze you loose is right. They now have a used SS Blackhawk in 357 for $400 that I am eyeballing. I can't keep up loading and shooting what I have. To practical?
