real nice no turn line looks clean. Is this for real a 32 20 out of a 30 carbine?
No mention of box but if it is real I'm interested. Not sure of the Value either.

Saw that too and had to check RENE. I see nothing at all about such a thing mentioned for the OM's. So...I'm calling foul on the claim. But...if the seller is that certain, have them get the letter from Ruger to prove it.

32-20 would have a .3125 cal bullet while the .30 carbine would have one of .308 caliber so yeah, one os gonna have a interesting bit of travel down the barrel.

A lot of people shoot 32-20 in their 30 carbine, myself included. However, 32-20 brass will not fit in an old model 30 carbine cylinder. They will work in a new model cylinder. For an old model cylinder to work with the rimmed 32 brass it will need to be modified.

I inquired and got what seems to be someone very insistent that it's legit and some special order thing. To me the stampings on the .32-20 cylinder scream [/red]"red flag"[/red]. Find nothing in RENE nor anything at all diving not Google. Still, the seller insists because it's scratched with the gun's #'s. The chambering and initials stamped in look suspicious (a term I used in the email that he did NOT care for. I suppose anything is possible but still not believing it. Got pretty defensive when questioned, polite but defensive. Nothing seems right with the whole scenario.

Pics he sent:

Thanks for the report. If was more reasonably priced I'd go for regardless of it
being factory or not. BTW did he mention if he had the original box? ps

Nope no box. That also kinda made me wonder...in near "just shipped" condition yet no box? Felt bag looks a bit too clean and crisp for it's age too. Strange that for something he said was so rare he's only asking the same price he saw another .30 carbine OM was tagged at recently. Last email seemed to focus on his interest being more $ than anything when it comes to gun discussions.

Without a factory letter it's just a normal gun with an after-market .32-20 cylinder. Several 'smiths offer this service. This cylinder should have been made to suit the required headspace of the .32-20 cartridge, no mods to the gun required.

IMHO there's no way it's "factory".

 Pet Pieve! No ring on cylinder = no shooting. BS Old model Ruger single action revolvers to not ring if cocked and decocked correctly. SATCOM

Wouldn't that 2nd cylinder have been blued after the chambers were reamed if it was factory? It appears to have been rechambered by cutting through the blued surface from what I can see.

It's a .30 carbine with .30-20 cylinder. I know of more than a few that are made up that way. Ruger didn't do it is my bet.

So, there is no problem with a .312 or .3125 projectile down a .308 bore? Or am I missing something?

It's done, but most, including me, use .308 bullets designed for the .30 Carbine or size cast to .309.

No problem. In fact, when I bought my original .32-20 dies from Hornady for my Contender (they were made with a .308 bore) the set came with two expander buttons for the size die, a .308 and a .312. I've since acquired a .32-20 'Buckeye' and a NM .30 carbine (it will chamber and fire Starline .32-20 brass) and half the time, I forget to change out the button.

I called Starline Brass to see about making 25.20 brass out of 32.20 brass. A man told me how to resize it. Starline keeps 32 but not 25 brass
