Ruger 50th anniversary 44 magnum Flat top with Micro sight.

These all came with a 6 1/2 bbl. Will Ruger install a 4 3/4" bbl on it? Thanks, Big Larry

With Ruger, you never know til you ask. But usually they will not change their guns to a configuration that was not produced.

Ask them directly. If they won't there's plenty of custom makers that will do it.

This is information that is several years old, and may have changed. Ruger told me that they would rebarrel a Blackhawk as long as that model was available as a production item. In other words, if you had a 7.5" Blackhawk in .45 Colt, and you wanted a 5.5" barrel installed, they would do it. The same with a extra cylinder. This is what I asked for. They said they would not change a caliber, such as rebarreling a No. 1 to a different caliber. So if my understanding is correct, since the 50th Anniversary Blackhawk never came with a 4 5/8 barrel as a production item, they probably won't do it. They told me the reasoning was that then it would be a "custom" gun from Ruger, which they don't do. I would call and talk to them. If not, advertise that you want to buy a barrel and have a gunsmith put it on for you. Hope you get what you want.

I had John Gallagher cut a 50th anniversary flattop .44 to 4 5/". It made an nice gun. I later sold it. I still have one in original 6 1/2" configuration, and have an OM flattop that's been cut to 4 5/8". I really like that barrel length.
