I have the 5 1/2" RedHawks in 357, 41, 44 magnums. I'm thinking of a eight shot 357 Redhawk and a Redhawk in 41 mag with a 4.2" barrel.? How good it the eight shot 357 mag? I wish the 8 shot came in the 5 1/2" barrel too. Choices choices...

Yeah, perhaps those in the know could give us a hint or two as to when the longer barreled 8-shot Redhawk is coming. Doing all that design work for a 3 lb snubbie only doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Bigbill , I have those 3 also but the 357 is really heavy for carry . Best shooting 357 I have .
I think the 8 shot should be a little lighter .
Can't complain about the 41 or 44 either .
Good luck .

I have the 8-shot 357. I like it OK. I wish it had a longer barrel but I have the 44 & 41 Backpacker models so it goes along well with those. I wish they would make a 45Colt/45ACP version of the Backpacker  .

I also have 4" version of the RH in 41, 44 and 45Colt. I traded off my 357 and 41 RedHawks a few years ago. Not sure what got into me.

Oh, the 357 shoots ok. Not a tackdriver but that isn't why you buy a snubby anyway.

I say go for the 8-shot .357. I know that those are highly coveted in the S&W variety, and there's not a huge difference between the 4.2" and 5.5" barreled Redhawks.
