Need to replace the rear sight springs. Numrich offers factory original springs for the old model Blackhawk. Would that be the correct replacement for the Hawkeye? I would also like to talk to a forum member about reloading 256 win mag. Thanks

Very short answer on reloading the 256 WM. It seems to shoot the 60 grain bullets the best, 75 FN's OK and Remington 86 grain 25/20 bullets, FN OK. The best loads I found wee using H110 and mag piston primers. The old Speer manuals have moderate amount of loading data that is safe to use. There were some published loads using Little gun that gave great velocities but were entirely too hot. Good luck with your gun.

Some of the Hawkeyes had Micro rear sights. You didn't say which sight you had. I'm not sure that the two sights used the same spring. Maybe Hondo44 will know.

I too have found that the 60 grn bullets were the best in my Hawkeye. I just wish I could find some. Hornady only runs the ones I use "occasionally." I'll see about digging up a picture of the first kills I made with my Hawkeye.

Here is the one with 2 ground squirrels I shot.

But,,, here is my favorite of all. My Hawkeye,, shooting across a canyon at a rock, out in Idaho a couple of years ago. This is not photoshopped or anything. Just a accidental capture at the best possible moment.

I have a super BH Hunter dragoon grip which has the round trig guard I'm tempted to try, and have it blued. Not a fan of the sq back trig guard but it would look good on the gun with its long barrel.
