I have a NV in 45 Colt, 7.5" barrel with the fake case color on the frame. Would $500 be a fair asking price? Has white grips on it, but I am not sure that is the way it came. Box etc. is with it.

I just bought a pair of blued 7 1/2" Vaqueros , no cch , consecutive #, blued frame and 98% condition for $800 and thought I got a great deal. You might be a bit on the high side but you can always come down . Go for it !

I think $500 is a very fair price - the CCH was dropped as was the 7 1/2" barrel so .... "rare" and no longer made. If the white grips are Ruger grips, that's another plus.
Assuming, of course, excellent condition.
Photos would be nice. Might be interested myself.

Just because some idiot parted with his two cons for $800.00 does not mean the whole market is down to $400.00 per gun. I'm quite sure their are several members here that have paid considerably more than $400 or $500 for a 7.5 out of production gun.

Before you start calling someone here an "idiot," perhaps do a spell check (or grammar check) on your post.

I wasn't aware that the New Vaqueros ever had the fake color case treatment. Can anybody fill me in on when that was a standard finish? Serial number range, perhaps?

Just curious. I don't keep up with all the new models.

That's okay you all just pile on here. Lets keep beating down the value of these out of production Vaqueros. Maybe by the end of the year we can start picking them up for $300.00 each or less. I know I've got a bunch I'm just jumping at the chance to give away. After all, we buy guns to lose money on don't we.

When ruger made the change from the large frame to the medium size frame they did continue with the case color. For how long this took place before the all blue I don't know. They were made in the three barrel lengths.

Thanks. Those are pretty good-lookin' guns there.

I have one of the very early large-frame versions with the fake CCH finish that was soon discontinued. Interesting that they decided to try it again, even if for a short time.

On the first version, the factory fix for a failure of the finish was to simply blue the gun, eliminating the CCH stuff. Wonder if that will happen on the new versions?

The highest New Vaquero I've noted with the fake case color is 510-68095.
Davidson's was the first to offer a new Vaquero with full blue finish as two of their distributor exclusives...

From the "Reference of Ruger Firearms"...

NVB-44-I (Ruger model 5118) and NVB-455-I (Ruger model 5117) Special distributor models. Features blued steel cylinder frame (instead of case color finish) and simulated ivory grip panels with black eagle medallions. Shipped in black plastic case with gold "Special Edition" inlay in lid. Known s/n ranges 510-37743 to 510-55262 (NVB-44I) and 510-24462 to 510-58198 (NVB-455I). 1,235 of the NVB-44-I were ordered from 2006 to 2007 by Davidson's (AZ) and 2,000 of the NVB-455-I were ordered from 2006 to 2007, also by Davidson's (AZ).

Ruger then decided that it was probably a good move to start giving them an all blue finish again...and it was begun by at least 510-72267 although NV455 serial number 510-58628 with all blue finish is pictured on page 23 of the 2011 Ruger catalog.

$500 is a fair asking price. The final sale price should land somewhere between $400 and $500. Depends on many factors.

So, are most/all guns prior to 510-68095 or thereabouts finished in CCH?

Yes, except for the 3,235 blue guns made for Davidson's...and the stainless guns that Ruger made of course.
