Sounds cool. I'd heard rumors of this one but this is the first I'm hearing of the barrel length. I'm in the market for a 6.5" or longer .357 and I was hoping this would be it. Don't need another snubbie though.

How about a 10.5" barrel on it. Since we're dreaming and all. Would almost be a maximum at that point!

Isn't that what they call short and fat? Nobody will have a holster for that. :D

The holster should be the same for this as any of the Kodiak Backpackers.

I got tired of looking for a 6 shot .357 Redhawk, could only dream of an eight shot. Found a nice S&W 627 and never looked back.

I will tell you this, opening a cylinder and seeing 8 big holes stairing at you, never gets old. It's like Christmas morning every time.

Ruger has a winner on their hands, but I agree they need to offer other barrels lengths.

If they hit the market in a big way, holsters will quickly follow. It's just a Redhawk, even if a bit shorter than the usual.

Edited to add . . . the Ruger website already shows three .357 Redhawks with 3" barrels. Holsters are almost certainly available.

Why such a short barrel? What do they think this revolver's niche will be? It will be a really heavy snubnose. Put a 4-5.5 in barrel on it so people will target shoot with it. The S&W 627 with a 4 inch barrel is a magnificent revolver. Its an 8 shot N frame.

I would imagine that a longer barrel will eventually be offered. I think this would be a great base gun for a Franken Ruger build or similar

The snubnosed s&w 627 UDR ( ultimate defense revolver) has been very popular for a long time. It was in a Clint Eastwood movie, and Woody Harelson carried one in a cop show he was in.

I don't have any info on an 8 holed cylinder 357 RH, but I do own a 1984 specimen with a 7.5" tube.

Steel plates at 100 yards are fodder for this baby...shoots straight and real flat...

They've been making that gun in .44 for a couple of years.
