Did any of the early (4 digit) blackhawk 44's ship with checkered wood grips?

They look like factory grips with medallion , just checkered.

thanks

No Sir, we've had real early ones with the hard rubber ( black plastic) and a few weeks later they started putting on the walnuts, with the sculpting ( contour) at the top, rear of each grip panel............

A nice example of aftermarket checkering on an old set of grips.

I don't believe Ruger ever made any flat bottomed grips...

ADDING:

Was on a laptop, and could not see well...They do not appear to be flat-bottom on my desktop, so you are probably correct in your assessment...

It looks like the bottom of the panels have some taper to them.
I've seen that checkering pattern before on XR3 panels. Not sure who did them, but you do see those from time to time.
