Hello!

My name is Michael, I´m 42 years old and I live in Germany.

The reason I´m writing in this forum is the following:

Some months ago a friend of mine, who collected Ruger revolvers, died. Now his wife asked me to sell these revolvers (8 at number). As it is very difficult to sell guns at a fair price in Germany (due to law regulations etc.) I wondered if the US might be a better place to do this.

In addition, I do not know much about Ruger revolvers and therefore can´t "judge" them (are they rare, are the special, etc.).

Although I know that shipping would cost quite some money, I´m thinking about giving it a try.

Maybe you can support me by writing addresses of dealers (or collectors) who are specialised in Ruger firearms.

If it is allowed in this forum, I´d also like to show you some pictures of the revolvers...

Thank you very much for your help in advance!!

Best regards!

Michael

Michael,
Although they specialize in Lugers and not Rugers, Simpson,LTD is an arms importer, and they have agents in Europe. You may want to contact them. It would make the sale easier, but you would not realize as much money. Perhaps another option would be forum users here going through them. A dealer with an import license is going to be required somewhere in the process. http://www.simpsonltd.com/

Best Regards,

Tip: Sell them to a U.S serviceman or several servicemen stationed in Germany, any other way will be a huge headache for the widow, yourself and the buyer here in the States.

I´d say all the guns have been shot, but are in a very good used condition...

Now I´m looking forward to learing from you about these revolvers!

Well, your friend had good taste! I just can't see it being affordable to go thru the trouble of selling them here :( Good luck with whatever avenue you choose. Will a gun shop give you anything worth selling them for?

@Cholo

The problem is that I estimate the average price per revolver to be ~250€ (~280$), if I sell them in Germany.

Considering costs for shipping and corresponding documents (which I would have done through an experienced company here in Germany or the US), there´s a "break even point", when selling the whole lot to the US would make sense.

The sum is about ~5500$. Do you think that is realistic for the 8 revolvers (plus in addition there´s a Colt Covernment and a FN High Power to be sold)...?

Looks to me like they would be worth a lot more to collectors in Germany. Are you sure about the pricing? Or can you not do private sales there. Your estimated price sounds like a dealers lowball to me. If you just sell them in a package to a dealer in the US you are not going to get a whole lot more for them, I think.
