Help please. What Ruger product begins with ser.# 740?

I'm doing some backtracking on a weapon I owned. Ser number 740-292XX.
Thought it was an SP101 but the Ruger site doesn't bear that out. I am told the caliber is .357.Thanks. Don

The 740 prefix was used on the 77/44 rifles. However the RENE guide only goes to 2009 & it stops at; 740-13108.
That's the best I can offer.

Looks like a 77/357?

Or if it was definitely a handgun and the 7 could be a 1, early GP-100.

The 77/44 series which includes the 77/357 is still being made with a 740- prefix.
