I have read here that Ruger .45 moon clips are made from thinner sheet metal than S&W/Colt clips. Would they work in a S&W or Colt solely to provide extraction of ACPs that head space on the case mouth?
I think Taurus was stupid making their .45 ACP double actions for clips that were thinner than S&W/Colt clips. In their case the thin clips precluded using Auto Rim brass and made the clips weaker for no reason. So far all Ruger's .45 ACP double actions retain metal to head space .45 Colt which would rule out Auto Rim brass even if Ruger had chosen the traditional .45 clip thickness.
