Seems there's something whacky in the .38 Special LCR serial numbering. 544-48629 has a B.O.D. of 8/14 and 543-47706 was made only two months earlier???
Not sure what Ruger was doing there.
What is everybody else's 544- prefix LCR in .38 Special??

An update on the two tone LCR. They are model number 05450 (same as the standard blued 357) and the two I saw are sr# 546-54960 and 546-54945
Oh 54960 is mine :D
They tell me that it is stainless steel and not just polished. But I can't prove it one way or another right now.
I hear they were a test model that has been scraped at this time maybe as many as 50 made. But have no proof of that number.

Great stuff! Thanks for sharing this important piece of Ruger history!!
Really, I can't imagine Ruger not introducing this model sometime in the future.
