Lots of nice wooden aftermarket grips. The Hogues and the Badgers put your hand at a bit of a different angle. The Badger turns the hand a bit more toward 90 degrees than the Hogues do. Both are wonderful grips. Always liked Herrett Shooting Stars also, but they are a bit hard to find at times. Lots of other choices too!!
The key is always getting the one that fits your own hand. No "best" in the grip world, not that you stated it that way. It reminds me of any of the newer fingergrooved semiautos. They either fit your hand, or they don't. And a grip is pretty useless if it doesn't fit you.
EDIT: I talked to Jim Badger a few years back and he told me they get that sheen on the grips just from polishing them. Also, he told me they can mod them a bit for you if you send them back specifying what you would like. Nice guy, beautiful grips.
