I'm going to have Jack build my next custom (full blue Bisley .500JRH on a 50th .44 flat-top) and his grip work is awesome but the grip mod on the BFR ain't gonna do it for me. I have fundamental issues with the Super Blackhawk/BFR grip profile.

Well any comment on my short barreled .45-70? This was my first barrel shortening job on a revolver!

Ever shoot it through a chronograph to see what you lost in fps? I'm curious. Some say the 7.5 is already a waste of gun powder, and 45-70 riflemen say the same about the 10. Looks-wise, it's great. It looks a hellava lot more balance than either stock model.

Haven't run it past my chrony yet,but it the bullet did stop in the 8th gallon jug, almost going thru it.
I would say it still is carrying some power. That round out of the 7.5 barrel is around 1400-1500 from what I read. Will give it a shot and check it!

Now if I wanted more power,a .450 Marlin cylinder can be fitted by Magnum Research or just some hotter loads equivalent to that pressure rating in .45-70

Got some chrony numbers today.... Hornady 325 gr. Leverevolution was the best at an average 1420 FPS. The more exspensive Winchester 375 gr. Dual bond was clocked at 1050 FPS average and the Georgia Arms "Cowboy" load 405 gr. at 1040 FPS average.
For easy to find and cheap .45-70 ammo, the Hornady is a good deal at $29 bucks for 20 when on sale at Dick's ! Not to bad out of the 5.2 inch barrel length. Of course there is hotter stuff out there.
