I have an older Alaskan and the warning rollmark is on the left side of the barrel. I picked up a new released 480 the other day and noticed there is no longer the warning rollmark on the left side of the barrel.

As far as aesthetics which do you prefer? I'm sort of use to the rollmark on the barrel and like the looks of it better.

You are probably the only man in the universe (assuming you are a male zombie) who likes to see that barrel warning.
In the recent past Ruger's been kindly reducing the size & moving it underneath the barrel where it's not so visible wherever it was feasible to do so.

I think the rest of us prefer very much not to see it.

I think if "Before using gun read warnings in instruction manual" bill boards were meant to be put on a handgun, Colonel Colt would have started doing it in 1836.

I have fore Alaskans, two with the warnings on the side and two with it on the bottom, they all shoot just fine.
