i have a 4 inch barrel ruger service six, i am going to get my permit soon and untill i can get a smaller gun the ruger will be my carry gun. i have tried to check online but i can't figure anything out with all the models of holsters. i can't afford a lot of money but don't want something that will break in a few times carrying either. i saw a uncle mikes in the waist band holster size 2 for $12-$16 on ebay as the cheapest that look made well. how about some others that ya'll use?, thanks for any help.

Simply Rugged, more money than you want to spend, less money that others and you can always get 75% of your money back if you take care of it.

Search this sellers "other items" to see his full selection. I've bought from him a number of times, always with great results.

And, any S&W K-Frame holster will likely work. The Six Series double action Rugers are the same physical size as the S&W models like 10, 15, 19, etc.

About Simply Rugged, just Bing it. Think it's www.simplyrugged.com

I also recommend Simply Rugged holsters. You can find them here: http://shop.simplyrugged.com/ecommerce/Holsters.cfm?cat_id=669

I have five and will be ordering a sixth soon for my newest SP101. all of mine have come within two weeks and they are very well made. As the previous poster said if you don't like it you can resell it. Get the sourdough pancake with IWB straps. I can comfortably carry my 4" GP100 with that holster and the really nice thing is that you can remove the straps and have a nice OWB holster too.

Safariland holsters are good. Just keep in mind that finding a good conceal carry holster can take a while. All things to consider....does the gun ride where it feels good to you....are you adjusting it all the time (not good)....does it keep your gun from falling out (even when bending over or chasing the dog)...are you really able to conceal your gun while wearing it....can you draw quickly from it without fumbling....if you need to remove it frequently, can you do so without having to take all of your clothes off...

The safariland holster you mentioned above may work well...it has both paddle and belt loops. It may be tight at first. How well it conceals will depend on your body and clothing you wear. Cocealing a 4 inch revolver is not easy for everyone...some can do it, some can't.

Here are some I found....

A good pancake style with a thumb break is hard to beat and a lot of manufacturers make those.

i have found some iwb holsters on ebay, they are american made, leather, steel clip and with lifetime warranty. however they told me that they make they're holsters for modern guns only and the service six isn't on they're list. they have holsters for gp100,one for sp101 then they have s&w k frame holster and a s&w l frame holster. then a taurus 65 and 66 holster then taurus tracker. and a rossi 971. which would be closer to my gun? it's got me puzzled, this is my first looking for these holsters as i normally just open carry. thanks for any help

Believe it or not, these holsters work great, are light weight, very rugged, and switch from right to left hand. They are made from a material similar to car seat belts but are slightly padded. They are dirt cheap and work for a variety of guns. I have one of enough of them that I can carry any gun I own in one. Maybe six or eight holsters to cover an entire collection of guns.

I have found SimplyRugged holsters to be the best on the market, especially for the money. I carried a Smith Model 27 in one in nearly all weather and even concealed more than once for several years and the holster held up with no complaints. I just ordered one for my SP-101 and I got one a month or so back for my Blackhawk. Rob gives you quite a few options too when it comes to his holsters. Another option would be Barranti, I have never had one of his holsters but I hear he is held in pretty high esteem when it comes to holster making and I know he also has quite a line up.

Get a Simply Rugged. You will not regret it. Cheap holsters aren't cheap when you accumulate a drawer full of ones that didn't work too well.

I like the looks of the simply rugged, but does your rear adjustable site get pushed around?
