So I own a Ruger Blackhawk .45 New model. I've been interested in mounting a scope/and/or laser sight onto my revolver, and have been all over the internet trying to figure out if its possible and what I'd need to accomplish this. I contacted CheaperThanDirt.com and was told it was not possible. I personally believe differently. What if I purchase a Weaver 301 pistol base, mount that to my rear sights, and then mount any weaver compatible scope mount to that? Is that not possible?

Maybe something like this: http://www.opticsplanet.com/weaver-pistol-systems.html

Welcome to the Forum!
While I tend to not try & modify a single-action like that,,, there is a possible solution.
Look for a Weigand mount. I believe they may have what you seek.

The Weaver #301 w/ rings will work without drilling the topstrap but you are limited on the spacing of the rings.http://www.midwayusa.com/product/714989

The Weigand mount requires you to drill and tap two holes in the topstrap but gives you lots of versatility.

This should be the Weigand no d&t mount: http://www.jackweigand.com/Ruger-Redhawk-Scope-Mounts-No-Drill.html
That won't work on the Blackhawk because it has a permanent front sight. :D

B square use to sell a "no drill" mount. Might look there.

Meh, minor detail!

Sorry, I didn't catch the part in the description saying the front sight had to come off. My bad...
