Gunsmith for Rugers -OOPS - Wrong name

Over the years, I have seen references to Andy Horvath as a good custom smith for Rugers, but he doesn't seem to have a web site. A search turns up a reference to the Perimiter Road Gun Shop, but not much else.

I have never been there, I have no clue how old he is or if he has retired, and am wondering if he is still doing custom Ruger work and any thoughts you are willing to share about him.

Alan is still at it. Exceptional gunsmith, great welding and machinists skills. Works out of a shop behind his house in Houston. As to age, he is old enough to have served in Vietnam, in '71, but must have been one of the young ones. Seems to have a pretty good backlog of work currently. Always a pleasure to talk with and to watch him work in the shop. 2 Dogs (Fermin) seems to see him fairly regularly so he may chime in.

Alan shortened the barrel and had his guy CCH this .32 Single Six



Shortened the barrel, repaired the Clements OM Bisley hammer which I managed to break the half-cock notch off, fit a rebored OM SBH cylinder in 45 Colt, reblued the gun and made the grips. My favorite OM shooter.

He is still in business, but has a large backlog of work. There is no better gunsmith especially when it comes to customs that require welding and machining work. He makes single actions hum like a fine watch and double actions work smooth as butter.
