It's been quite some time since I've made a post on this forum, but I would like everyone's honest opinions. A buddy of mine took in, on consignment at his LGS, a pretty nice P93DC, stainless slide, 2-15 round mags and rubber fingergrooved grips.

Long ago, in 2002 I believe, I sold my stainless P95DC and regretted it ever since. I've seen them here and there through the years, probably a half dozen in the past 18 months, but never bit on one. The thing I remember most about that P95 I had was that it ran like a Swiss watch, never jammed, I always took it to the range and was just plain fun to shoot! Whenever I saw a P95 in a used gun case it would always stop my in my tracks.

I understand that the P93DC is very similar to the P95DC except for an aluminum frame as opposed to a polymer frame, and I think this is my chance to fill the 18 year void of getting another P series pistol. Positives and negatives of your experiences with the 93, especially negatives, would be appreciated, as well as anything else I should look out for. I'm thinking very seriously about purchasing this one. Thanks in advance for the replies.

Except for being large I would say nothing bad about either gun.
The P93 is actually smaller than the P95.
3.9 inch barell vs. 4.25 inches

Not sure anybody ever had a "bad" P-series semi auto.

I never had the 93 but did have the 89, 90, 94 and 95.

Think all mine were the DC version which, to me, made good sense.

They're still an excellent value in the $250 - $300 range but they've gotta be REAL nice.

The P93/KP93 is my personal favorite of the P-series Ruger pistols.

Not nearly as many made as the other models. If I recall correctly, Mr. Ruger became impatient with the development process of the P-95. He instructed release of this metal frame model while further work on the P-95 was completed.

Took me a long while to locate two of them for purchase at semi reasonable prices. Still have them. I would recommend buying it but I am not an impartial voice by any estimate.

I had no clue there was a P93.... the '94 was on my list for a while but I never really got one.... Personally I think it might be a good collectors pistol... but a shorter barrel and metal (aluminum frame) would be cool.... what about the magazines? Are they like the older P89 mags or the newer, longer run ones?

The KP93/P93 uses the newer version magazines. Shares with P94, P95, and newer P89s. I highly recommend the P93 & P94 as alternatives to the full size P89. Same Ruger rugged reliability in a smaller package.

I appreciate the input. I'll go and look at it tomorrow morning, see what kind of shape it's in and we'll see what happens.

Hi rjm, just my two bits worth. The P93 is my favorite as well. None of the bumps as on the earlier ones, still enough barrel at almost 4" yet it's compact and rounded enough for carry. I think it's as slick as these newer "melted" finish guns. To me it is the best looking of the P's. I have the later models as well and the P345 is the best of those to me, but overall, I'll take the P93 over so many guns.

If you have a minute, check out my short video on the P-Series guns. All are mine and any misstatements on there are mine too... Just had fun talking about some pretty cool and mostly forgotten guns. My P93 has the even more rare REM finish and is just past the 6 minute mark on the short video. Here is the link:

No REM finish, roylt, but the pistol was in FANTASTIC shape. No rub marks or scratches save for a very faint hint of an idiot scratch where the slide stop goes. Also came with 2-17 round MecGars! Of course I went ahead and bought it, and am stoked that I finally have a P series back in the safe after an 18 year hiatus. Hope to get it to the range Wednesday. Thanks again for the input everyone.

Was so excited about the possible REM I forgot my tag.

Keep The P-guns Alive!!!

You'll enjoy it I'm sure. Post a pic if possible.

OP, good that you bought the P93. Enjoy!

TomD, your video was very well done. Thank you.

I love the P-series pistols. My most often carried pistol is my P95.
Yes, there are slimmer options out there... I own some of them. There's just something about Ruger reliability, combined with what-works-for-me ergonomics that keeps my P95 in regular rotation.

The P93 went to the range with me this morning. I now understand why I missed my P series (P95) for the past 18 years. What a great pistol! As long as I did my part, ragged holes out to 12 yards. It was every bit as accurate as the two CZ 9mm pistols I used to have. Ran 150 rounds through her (3 boxes of factory ammo---all different brands, but all jacketed round nose range ammo) and not 1 hiccup. Functioned exactly as I hoped/expected it would. This one will definitely remain in my safe.

Tip: I agree with your statement about ergonomics and reliability.....both came back to me as I was shooting it. Yep, a bit of a wide-body but that's ok. I fell in love all over again and I have a feeling it will be a regular range day companion.

Post a picture if you feel like it. We don't mind a little porn on here.
