Throughout the years I've seen virtually endless Glock owners yammering about how many rounds they have through their "indestructable" Glock. I've never seen similar comments about Ruger products.

In my case, I'm curious who has the most rounds through a SR9c? Don

I have to wonder about folks who count the number of rounds through a firearm. Personally I have much better things to do like reload ammo. Shoot it, clean it, shoot it etc. When it breaks fix it and continue as before.

I am the same way. Like with Glock telling how many hundreds of thousands of rounds through while Colt(other brands) only went through 30,000 without a jam. I have no idea how many years it would take us combined here to shoot through 30,000 rounds.

Each to his/her own.

I have 1690 rds out of the older SR9c, 308 out of the newer one.

Why oh why is this the only forum I visit which requires you to log in EVERY time you visit? Not rocket science I didn't think. It's been this for many, many months. Mods??? Don

It doesn't. It's on your end, and there's no need to post it twice.

Yep, it's a you problem.

Run all your usual maintenance stuff, clear cookies, delete browsing history, etc.

And yeah ..... I always wondered if those concerned about "round count" really shoot much at all. Questions about round count, appears unfired, and such are just filler.

To be blunt, I don't have the resources or even time or strength to go to the range and run a couple thousand or even hundred rounds through a gun.... I might on a good day run through 50 rounds of 9mm and that these days is maybe once a month....

Yes, I use a password to get on the internet but I don't need to do anything more to get onto glocktalk.com, S&W forum, Chevy SS forum or for that matter any other place. This forum is the only place where I routinely need to log in everytime even though I click "remember me". It didn't used to be that way, despite my apparently low post count, I've been on this forum for many years. On two occasions in the past my account crashed again, that happened at no other forum I visit. Don

What's the point of the snide negativity???

You don't know me. I do shoot regularly, if you're interested, .22LRs both pistols and rifles, Mini30, Ruger No. 1 in .458 Win, SP101 .357, two SR9cs, 2 S&W 500 Mags and a S&W M&P9 M2.0. Reload for .357, .500 Mag and .458 Win. Feel better now?? Geeze, fellow shooters don't need cheap shots. Don

Oh and if you care, I'm a retired Navy guy who was a designated "proven weapons specialist".

No, I'm not sensitive, I don't appreciate unnecessary put downs. Shooters need to stick together, we have powerful enemies that want to divide us and progress toward their goals of ever more bogus anti gun laws. Don

if you're interested,

The snide negativity is squarely on your comment of the "yammering" Glock owners. You set the tone and I was AGREEING with you, not taking a pot shot at you.

Regardless. Thank you for your service and lighten up a bit; nobody is being attacked.

OK, Hittman, thanks for the clarification. I never perceived my Glock comments to be offensive to the members of a Ruger forum.

Have a good Thanksgiving. Don

The only time I try to roughly guess how many rounds I've shot in any given gun, is when I've got one for sale, and I'm asked "how many rounds"? If it's a relatively new gun, and I figure it's been to the range once or twice, I figure a hundred rounds each trip, so my answer is often, I'll guess two hundred rounds. And guns that I have had longer, a round count is difficult..

Not being a round counter should not be natural to me. As an Ordnanceman, we had to keep track of how many rounds have been thru a given barrel on many of our weapons. I don't even remember how we recorded the count. :?

I often see in firearms classifieds in different sites, and then the question, "how many rounds"? And I'm surprised how many people do have an answer. It's got 3,268 rounds down the tube. Really? How do people keep such a count?

Lastly, when I buy a gun, I never ask how many rounds fired. I might ask how old it is, but that's usually volunteered by the seller in the beginning. I do look very closely at the condition, and certain wear patterns and cleaning patterns give me an idea of how much it's been used or carried, but round count is not an issue.

I have owned multiple SR9's and/or SR40's. My use pattern is, when a gun is new, I shoot it fairly often, a hundred rounds or more at a time, until I'm comfortable it'll operate when it's expected to do so. When it becomes a trusted carry piece, I find I shoot them much less often, other than to rotate ammo thru the magazines while I'm at the range ringing out other guns.

So, in spite of the multiple SR pistols I've owned, I'll bet the average is 500 to a thousand rounds per gun before I sell them and move on. Not a good answer, and it does not speak at all to longevity. And this would be a pretty standard answer for most of the plastic pistols I've owned over the years.

Now if you were to ask how many rounds I've shot thru any given all steel and/or aluminum (shooter) pistol or revolver, my answer could be thousands. And if you looked at the bores and the guns in general, they will still look very nice. It's then, that if I was unscrupulous, I could say it's only had a couple boxes thru any of them, and it could be believable. Exactly the reason I don't ask for a round count. :D I have bought similar condition guns that sellers tell me they've also shot thousands of rounds. It all boils down to condition.

I count every round through all my guns. I keep a log book in my range bag. It only takes a few seconds to jot down #'s.
I can think of several good reasons:
1. If you need to have your gun serviced, it helps the factory to know .I've been asked by Ruger CS every time.
2. I replace the recoil spring assemblies on all my CCW pistols at regular factory recommendation,(usually 5-7k rounds)
3. When selling a gun it helps to be able to tell a buyer how used your gun really is.
4. Many guns have break in periods (usually 500 rounds)How else would you know when you've reached break in?
I may be the odd ball, but all my guns have thousands of rounds through them(except the Bodyguard 380).
