My buddy looked at a LCP in .380 the other day and told me that he had to push the mag release to insert a magazine. That don't sound right to me, is he just kidding me or is that the way it is?

Well ..... it's a $150 gun. There's not much to be expected.

He bought a gen II gun and the one he got works fine...I shot it today and it operated flawlessly. Small enuf for the pocket and very light.
Show me one for $150 and I would be taking it home in my pocketses...my pocket gun now is only 22lr and this would be an upward move...

I bought a pair a 10th aniv one and a purple Talo one for the wife. Only problem being a simple blowback action the wife has a little trouble racking the slide. Very handy pocket gun. I bought a Kydex trigger shield rather than a holster. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Kydex-Trigger-Guard-for-Ruger-LCP-Black/171770414198?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item27fe508476:g:xXIAAOSwdGFYxQay:sc:USPSFirstClass!91724!US!-1&enc=AQADAAAB4KX%2FKt4E1xf3SDqEdBclaYbvk3creC7vD0M73jJs9SsrvvliqeIVSAgRor6rNzz24OcKFnyenXfkphhKp%2BEcLz8lCDpG1p0skHBVTYwkBwDcEatsKR2B2wUFS7YPQxSDpw9lJ76oVo45SQ32LZ1Q8hi0vk8Cy7j1IuYxXuRZXRMWZ21P214s%2BKzqRpn%2FUoFXVD7V5IiySmbrZcD%2Btphb0fFjP4tjoe67Ipbh4Oru4bOZf%2BOPPO5U8GH6SfwVofMrOzJx724o%2FCvADKRtqATrVBcTYBE3m04k%2FwLEl3mJTTSf2nWCkoNrNj%2F53rPHJpAXiQRgMxycljFAEE8NqgLd4ZzlOhB9cJ2AplUvPrVTUpxgkfELFqfNoS7qukjvOLfKETf6pYilBiDoL560opSqeRMvst8a9SEKYF0iK%2FYp%2FnYCayCh%2F%2FRAwrZZBBcf%2FtrWou9OMH8lNylI01oWIHKswPDb%2B1sZVjg9ytkjzlM71QFhwkKTYPI9mCL%2BwjZoyyfObAfSTDTgHUmEyBr%2FVB04gYPyzbu750pXtVuZaAPhqZNddS0tJE956a7ObG%2B4Y8Pg5UIgVwesPDrJBeDdy8k71O8lcaPs%2FLrPwKDJK2IP7uz8c19Rw97on4x1Frhv%2BU28lQ%3D%3D&checksum=171770414198db0218cc225b43dba199be1b648a604f

So how does that work? Hang it around your neck?

The LCP's are not a blowback design. It's a recoil operated locked breech design.

Put belt through loop and toss in pocket. When you need it yank it out you get the gun the trigger cover stays hooked to your belt.

I've got one that does the same thing, magazine goes in part way and then stops, a push on the release and it continues in and latches smoothly. I haven't taken the thing apart to see what's going on I should send it in to Ruger. I thought at first I had the wrong magazine in it, the old ones and newer ones are slightly different. I should get off my rear and call Ruger. I also have an LCPII and that one is what the first one should have been. No pinch no problem.

My buddy said he looked up the magazine well and could see the issue, he didn't say what it was but that he could see the problem...Back to Ruger it should go

I would think the bottom end of the pin that holds the mag in place needs to be beveled like a door latch... so that the magazine will push it in as it slides past and then it is flat on the top side to hold the mag.

I agree. It looks like something like that, the magazine catches the latch on the way in instead of sliding by. The magazine goes in okay if one holds the release button down slightly which indicates that. I've been lazy in not removing the catch and taking a close look at it. Reshaping it a wee bit should do the job.

Yep, that's what they're supposed to do. I haven't done anything about it, just lazy and have other things to do. It actually doesn't bother me, the day I have to make super fast magazine changes with that gun I'll be in real trouble.
