Just curious - does anyone have information (or best guess) on how many pistols were produced in 1949?

i recall reading somewhere that production started rather late in the year so the number is probably rather low...

Thanks

W H Y NOT???

I'm trying to narrow down when my pistol was manufactured. It was shipped in 1950. Whether it was manufactured in 1949 or 1950 depends on how many were made in 1949.

It may well be of interest only to me - seems I posted in the wrong category - my profound apologies.

I thought the first reply was too harsh but, yes, this would do better if posted in the "Rimfire" category.

Yes - a great deal - thank you for the link.

Now when I take my Standard and Mark IV to the range to compare accuracy I'll know they are 68 years apart in age... very curious to know which is more accurate.

51ti cares or he would not have asked. Exactly 1138 Ruger pistols were produced & shipped in 1949. No pistols were numbered between serial numbers 660 and 2000.

Thank you for the additional information - appreciate it!

That, and the Ruger link, makes calculating when my pistol, which I've owned for about sixty years, was manufactured even easier - 467x.
