I've always been told never oil the firing pin channel and have read it many times. I'm far from being an authority or expert. It can cause dirt and fouling to accumulate not to mention in below freezing weather.
Also as mentioned I wouldn't want any of that oil or lubricant to run out and kill the primers. On allot of my guns especially my carry guns that's fairly easy to take the firing pin out I do on occasions and clean it and the F.P. channel good. For an example my Sig's and the 1911's to name a couple.
